Marie
Marie has been teaching for 43 years, all the way from Kindergarten to college-level. She is a retired Texas-certified teacher with a Masters in Reading. She is an all-levels reading specialist and certified in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). She is trauma-trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention for teaching trafficked youth. In her spare time, she loves to read mystery novels, visit her grandkids, and go to museums!

Kathy
Kathy is a retired Texas-certified teacher who has been teaching for 33 years. Before teaching at Refuge City, she taught high school math. She has her Bachelors in Education from Mississippi State University. She is trauma-trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention for teaching trafficked youth. In her spare time, she loves to read, go on scenic hikes, and visit her family and friends!
Our trauma-informed, on-level GED Program helps trafficking survivors resume their education at their own pace.
After graduating from Refuge City, Overcomers go on to attend universities, enroll in vocational schools, and achieve higher-paying jobs.
These services are 100% funded by donors and grants.
Our GED students learn on scholarship: all of our services are completely free to them.
