Refuge City’s Advocacy is one of the most important reasons why our Overcomers are successful. Advocates empower Overcomers to make wise, healthy decisions and walk alongside them throughout their journey at Refuge City.

Traffickers prey on vulnerabilities to exploit youth. Examples of these vulnerabilities are addiction, broken family systems, previous involvement in juvenile justice, childhood sexual assault, recent migration, housing instability, and more.

Advocates meet Overcomers where they are, helping them to eliminate roadblocks to their success. This includes walking alongside Overcomers throughout trafficker trials, helping them find safe housing, job search assistance, interview prep, meeting basic needs (i.e. food, clothing), and more. Refuge City’s Advocacy Program is only available to Overcomers already enrolled in the RCP or GED programs.

Hear more from Frankie about what Advocacy means to her:

For me, advocacy is more than just standing up for a cause—it’s about being the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing His love and compassion to those who are hurting. I believe every person has inherent worth and dignity, and my work is about helping survivors reclaim their voices, their power, and their futures. As I walk alongside them, I’m reminded of the Scripture in Isaiah 61:1, “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”

Advocacy means fighting for justice, educating others about the realities of sexual exploitation, and helping survivors find their strength and healing through Christ. My mission is to not only be an advocate but also a source of hope, pointing others to the love and redemption that is available through Jesus.
